While at university studying for an English Degree he wrote his first play, THE VIRGIN'S KISS, which was sold out at the Edingburgh Fringe Festival for its one week run and was invited to stay as part of the official festival.
He also wrote a children’s book in verse, THE WHITE FEATHER CLOAK, bought by Dorling Kindersley and a futher sixty verse book, KING, bought by the Bertelsman group and sold with a computer adventure game based on the narratives.
Leaving University he worked as a marketing manager for Beyond Software, a cult games company, and was commissioned to write novellas for various game publishers to accompany releases. He went on become Training Director for one of the largest media recruitment agencies in London, whilst still writing and being commissioned by the BBC for original drama and comedy series, before deciding, before he turned thirty, to go back to school and do an MA in film directing at Bournemouth University. He hasn’t had a proper job since and has been writing for stage, screen and print in various forms ever since.
As a novelist using the cunningly deceptive nom de plume of Mark Pearson he has written five books in the Jack Delaney Series. HARD EVIDENCE, BLOOD WORK, DEATH ROW, MURDER CLUB and THE KILLING SEASON.
Mark is also the co-writer of PRIVATE LONDON with James Patterson. The first time Patterson has collaborated with a British author. ‘Private London’ is the second title in a new detective series in the Patterson stable called PRIVATE, and was published in hardback by Cornerstone on June 9th 2011. The book went straight in at number one in the Sunday Times bestseller lists and the paperback was published in January 2012.
He has a further book in the Jack Delaney series called BLOOD STONE and has just completed a stand-alone novel which is a hard hitting zeitgeisty look at institutionalised corruption, inner city gang violence and civil unrest post Brexit and post Trump.
In addition to his novel writing he has been a full time and multi-award nominated television scriptwriter, writing as Marc Peirson. He has over fifteen years of experience on a variety of shows including DOCTORS, EMMERDALE, EASTENDERS. HOLBY CITY. His nominations include Best Episode of the Year at the British Soap Awards, a Royal Television Society Award and a Golden Rose at the Rose D’Or Festival in Switzerland.
As a comedy writer he has numerous credits on shows and has had pilot episodes commissioned by the BBC’s Comedy Department, BBC Drama and for Warren Cabral Productions. Marc’s screenplay, FUNNY THING LIFE was optioned by Granada Productions and he was shortlisted for TAPS Writer of the Year. He has also had a sitcom optioned and developed with Blue Heaven Productions and D.L. Taffner (UK) Ltd, and wrote on an original sketch show and an original sitcom made and produced in Germany.
